SARA HUTTO

Chief of Staff

Sara Hutto comes to CMSF after 12 years with the Greater Farallones and Cordell Bank National Marine Sanctuaries and the Greater Farallones Association, where she managed the Conservation and Climate Program, established the ONMS climate change initiative, and led international efforts to advance climate-informed planning for marine protected areas. She has managed and facilitated highly collaborative programs and teams to implement coastal and marine conservation and to guide long-term strategies for achieving climate resilience of our nation's national marine sanctuaries, and has worked with marine resource managers from Canada, Mexico and the UK on climate planning. Sara joined Sanctuaries in 2012 as a California Sea Grant Fellow, supporting resource protection at Channel Islands National Marine Sanctuary. Prior to her work with Sanctuaries, Sara received a Masters of Marine Science from Moss Landing Marine Labs, where she studied the impacts of climate change on various kelp species.

 

Sara is originally from the Southeastern US but has called the California coast home for 15 years, along with her husband and two kids.
